Displacements in Pakistan are 'stretching resources'
14/04/2010
The increasing number of people who are being displaced from their homes in Pakistan is stretching aid resources, it has been reported.
According to Irin News, individuals in the north-western areas of the country are being forced to abandon their properties because of clashes between the Taliban and government troops.
It has been recorded that residents have been fleeing Kala Dhaka in the Mansehra District and violence has intensified in Orakzai Agency in the federally administered tribal areas.
Afsar Khan, who has moved his family away from Kala Dhaka, said it is better to leave now rather than wait for conflict to arrive.
"Things have been getting tense at home and there are reports the Taliban have set up hide-outs in various places," he added.
Last month, it was reported that around 430,000 people were returning to the region of Bajaur, Pakistan, after having fled when fighting broke out in August 2008.
